Greeting Cards!

1970!  Yep, you remember it well – right?  Why not?  It was ONLY 45 years ago.  So here we are…planning yet another reunion – and we need YOU!

This year, we’re keepin’ it casual…no fancy, smancy dance and dinner – nope, not this year.  We have a great Friday night and Saturday planned for those of you who want to just hang out and be yourself.  It will be Woodstock revisited, Battle of the Bands, Grapevine Lake, crusin' Chubby's parking lot - whatever you enjoyed doing back then.

Write down these dates and put it on your calendar!

October 23 and 24, 2015

Friday night, we scored a true Irving icon by arranging to have our meet and greet at the downtown Irving Big State Drug store – now owned by none other than Rick Fairless of Stroker’s fame (and a former MHS Grad).  He bought it, moved out the drug counter, put in a bar and kept the quant and memorable soda fountain counter and lots of tables and chairs – oh and let’s not forget to mention the juke box!

Then on Saturday, our dear friend and MHS classmate, Jim Widener has graciously offered to host our event on his 143 acre property in far south Irving which will start midafternoon and go until the flames burn out on the bonfire that evening.

It will be BYO…everything!  Chairs, coolers, beverages, picnic and anything else you feel you will need to keep you going all day.  We’ll provide the porta potty, electricity and a tent to block the sun.

Now for YOUR help.  We are looking for bands!  Anyone who would like to play that Saturday – and willing to take a turn on the stage to entertain us (free of course).

We are looking for cooks!  A chili cook off is among the talks we are having also, so drag out Grandma’s family chili recipe and sign up to enter.  Oh, and if you aren’t a cook, how about being a judge?

We are looking for at least one more golf cart to help transport those who need it from the parking area to the party area.

We are looking for classic cars – bring your ride and show it off (more on this later).

We are looking for people to help make this a great weekend – we need helpers to get the grounds ready and possibly build a bandstand.  We also need an electrician who is licensed to pull power in the city of Irving.

We are keeping the cost low – very low – just to cover the necessities – but it will definitely be affordable for EVERYONE.

Please help us find classmates that are not registered on our website – if you have a phone, or mailing address we will contact them.  Just let us know via email.  More details will be forthcoming, but your help is needed NOW!

Let's make this the best one ever!

Marsha Billings Slate Brown passed from her life on Earth around 5:00pm on 9-11-13 from a battle with thyroid cancer! Prayers for her family would be appreciated!

Thanks to John Maynard, I have some first through third grade group photos from Barton and we are trying to identify the kids in it.  If you went to Barton, please send me a note and I'll forward them to you so you can help.
